We presented a Lunch and Learn on Desktop-as-a-Service, or DaaS, today at Richland Country Club in Nashville. Mac McClenathan from Green Cloud joined our CEO, Milton Bartley, in discussing reasons to use DaaS.
Among the benefits explained were:
*Only needing to manage only one location for compliance. Even if an organization operates in multiple states, compliance can be configured and met within the cloud.
*Contractors can work using your systems – for example submitting claim or title information – yet be limited or controlled in what aspects of your systems they can access.
*Extending the lifecycle of existing desktops. The ever-increasing processing power and storage needs of new business software can be easily met through the cloud, and allow work to continue on existing equipment.
*Expansion – of teams and locations – can be easily accomodated without a huge upfront capital spend. Alternatively, if a division is closed, organizations easily can shed excess capacity quickly.
The session also covered how to handle situations where internet access is limited – whether temporarily or constantly – for example for workers in some rural areas.
There were many more use cases mentioned, along with real-life case studies.
