This month’s cybercriminal is wanted by the FBI for the pernicious SamSam ransomware that struck the City of Atlanta, the City of Newark, LabCorp, and other entities.
The accused is one of two Iranians the FBI says developed and refined the malware.
The FBI’s cyber most wanted page includes comments from Amy Hess, a native of Jeffersonville, Ind., who is the FBI’s Executive Assistant Director for Criminal, Cyber, Response and Services Operations. Apparently, the suspects’ use of bitcoin helped track them down.
