National Cybersecurity Awareness Month – a great time to review your online habits

National Cybersecurity Month 2019

October is National Cybersecurity Awareness Month. Sponsored by the U.S.Department of Homeland Security, it’s a national campaign to encourage U.S. citizens to be aware of the serious threats foreign hackers and other criminals present to our online life.

Today we’re endorsing the idea of “If you connect, you must protect.” Most of us have been online 20 to 25 years now, but sometimes our habits are stuck in the early years of the Web.

This can mean using old computers which no longer are updated but still connecting to a network; poor password management; weak controls for using network resources, or risky log-in activities when out of your home or office.

Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) notes that we are in an era of huge data breaches, and that 69 percent of consumers believe companies are vulnerable to cyber attacks.

Don’t live down to those negative expectations. Give your company a competitive edge with strong data protection.

Talk with us about our Employee Security Training program, our Penetration Testing and Vulnerablity Scans,  our Risk Assessment service. All those are a start to determining where you need to shore up defenses – or maybe revise some of your company policies governing access to your networks.

Contact us today – because October is a great time to start planning for next year!
